Danny Broderick likes redbush tea, Asian food and his adopted city of Sheffield. He has worked as the Course Director of the Writing Squad since setting it up with Steve Dearden in 2001 with funding from the Arts Council and support in kind from Sheffield Hallam University. He was previously Research Fellow in Creative Writing at the same university between 1997 and 2001. He also taught professional and creative writing to undergraduates there for 10 years. Danny chiefly writes creative non-fiction, but also short stories and articles (go to writing for a small sample of recent work and older writing for print). He has also worked as a language teacher with refugees, worked with the BBC to find and develop new writing talent among immigrant communities, and long ago, as a shop floor trade union organiser.
